A RELAXING PLACE TO STAY

The Artist’s Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed building built in 1483. Located in the heart of Rye’s historic citadel area, this cottage is ideally situated for exploring the town and accessing the surrounding coast and countryside.

Accommodation consists of three bedrooms (kingsize, double and twin), two bathrooms (each with baths, one having rain style shower), lounge/diner with TV/DVD and wood burning stove, kitchen (with dishwasher), games room with pool table and Wii, mezzanine area (with small area of outside seating) and downstairs toilet (with washing machine). The property has been recently renovated and decorated throughout and has central heating.

Built in 1483, the cottage boasts a wealth of original features, beams and fireplaces – alongside newly refurbished kitchen and bathrooms – making the perfect combination for a relaxing holiday.

In recent history, the property has been owned by a string of artists, who used the front room as an art gallery (now a modern games room). The Rye Fine Art sign still hangs on the front of the building. Looking further back, the beautiful arch on the wall of the main living room is thought to be the remains of an ancient bread oven!

Rye itself offers many relaxing pastimes. The Rye Retreat just a few minutes walk from the cottage provides spa packages as well as hair and beauty treatments.  The local leisure centre – also within walking distance – has a good sized swimming pool.  Rye citadel is packed with a wide range of restaurants and cafes. Whether you are looking for a special meal out, somewhere to go with the kids, or a delicious cream tea, you are sure to find the perfect place.
